Artist's Palate: Noble & Webster

stuffed marrow

For our Artist's Palate back page in the March issue of Wallpaper (W*132), British contemporary art sensations Tim Noble and Sue Webster elevated the humble marrow into a spiky subversive submarine.

HMS Punk

Take a large marrow, the biggest one you can find, slice it in half and hollow out the middle.

Put a small bottle inside the hollow and clamp the two halves back together again using cocktail sticks to secure it tightly.

Get out your pocket penknife and carve 'HMS PUNK' into its thick leathery green skin in big bold handwritten Sex Pistols-type lettering.

Stick a Union Jack cocktail stick in the top, go to the nearest brook and float it down the river.

The recipe is inside the bottle.
